BREAKING!! Why We Freed 70 Suspected Bandits — Katsina Government Makes Shocking Revelations

The Katsina State Government has clarified its decision to initiate the release of 70 individuals suspected to have been involved in banditry, stating that the move is part of a broader strategy to sustain an existing peace agreement with armed groups operating in parts of the state.

According to the government, the release followed extensive consultations with security agencies, community leaders, and relevant stakeholders, and was carried out under clearly defined conditions aimed at consolidating peace and restoring normalcy in affected communities. Officials explained that the gesture is intended to build trust, encourage disarmament, and persuade other armed elements to abandon violence.

The state government emphasised that the decision does not amount to blanket amnesty for criminality, stressing that beneficiaries of the peace process are required to renounce violence, surrender weapons, and commit to lawful conduct. It added that those released would be closely monitored, while security operations against groups that refuse to embrace peace would continue without compromise.

Katsina authorities maintained that the approach aligns with a non-kinetic conflict resolution framework designed to complement military efforts, reduce bloodshed, and allow displaced residents to return to their communities. The government reiterated its commitment to protecting lives and property, noting that peace-building initiatives remain a critical component of its security strategy.

The clarification comes amid public concerns over the release, with the government assuring citizens that security remains paramount and that no step would be taken to undermine the safety of the people of Katsina State.
