BREAKING NEWS!! Former PDP Governor Joins ADC

Former Cross River State Governor, Donald Duke, has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as part of ongoing political realignments ahead of the 2027 general elections. Duke completed his defection on Friday after registering as a member of the ADC in Ward 5, Calabar Municipal, where he was issued a membership card by party officials.

Duke, who previously moved from the PDP to the Social Democratic Party (SDP) before returning to the PDP, described his latest switch as part of broader efforts to reposition Nigeria’s opposition politics.

His defection comes as the ADC intensifies its expansion across Cross River State and other parts of the country, positioning itself as a major platform for opposition coalition building. In Bakassi Local Government Area, ADC leaders have called on residents to join the party, describing it as a credible alternative capable of delivering transformative governance.

In a statement signed by the Bakassi Chapter Chairman, Emmanuel Asuquo, and Secretary, Eko Boco, the party reaffirmed its loyalty to the ADC national leadership, pledging support for Senator David Mark, National Chairman, and Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, National Secretary.

The ADC has recently attracted several high-profile political figures, including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Nasir El-Rufai, Rotimi Amaechi, and Rauf Aregbesola, strengthening its profile as a growing opposition force ahead of the 2027 elections.
