Five serving governors; Seyi Makinde (Oyo State), Alex Otti (Abia State), Ahmadu Fintiri (Adamawa State), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi State) and the Governor of Zamfara State, are reportedly set to defect to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in what is being described as a major political realignment.
According to emerging details, the governors will be joined by 18 serving Senators and several members of the House of Representatives in a grand reception scheduled to hold at Eagle Square, Abuja, on January 14, 2026.
The planned mass defection, if confirmed, is expected to significantly alter Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of future electoral contests, positioning the ADC as a major force at the national level.
As of the time of filing this report, official confirmations from the affected governors and lawmakers are still being awaited.
