A native doctor who allegedly promised to use spiritual means to guarantee Mali’s victory at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) has been arrested by authorities after reportedly collecting €33,500 for the service. The arrest followed complaints and intelligence reports indicating that the suspect received the funds after assuring clients of a guaranteed tournament triumph for the Malian national team.
Sources familiar with the investigation disclosed that the promised outcome failed to materialise, prompting concerns over fraud and false pretence. Law enforcement agencies moved in to apprehend the suspect as part of ongoing efforts to curb exploitation linked to superstition and sports-related scams.
