BREAKING: Akpabio Withdrawal of Lawsuits Against Natasha, Other Nigerians Over Alleged Defamation on New Year Forgiveness

Senate President, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has directed his legal team to withdraw all lawsuits he instituted against some Nigerians over alleged defamation.

The suits include those filed against Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, with whom Akpabio has been engaged in a legal dispute following accusations of sexual harassment—claims he has consistently denied.

Akpabio gave the directive during a church service held to usher in the New Year 2026, explaining that the decision was taken in the spirit of forgiveness and reflection.

According to him, he had nearly nine cases in court against individuals he accused of defaming and slandering his name. However, after listening to the priest’s message during the service, he felt compelled to act differently.

“I had almost nine cases in court against some individuals who defamed me, who lied against me, who slandered my name,” Akpabio said. “But I listened to the priest and suddenly realized he was talking to me, so I hereby direct my solicitor to withdraw all lawsuits against them.”

With this development, it is expected that the controversies surrounding the legal disputes, particularly between Akpabio and Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, will be brought to an end.
