BREAKING: Massive US Airstrike Reportedly Naturalise Over 700 Terrorist in Borno State

Unconfirmed reports emerging late Sunday, December 28, 2025, claim that a United States-led airstrike has neutralised a large number of suspected terrorists in Borno State, North-East Nigeria.

According to preliminary and unverified information circulating from security-linked sources, the air operation allegedly targeted terrorist enclaves believed to be operating within remote areas of the state, resulting in the reported deaths of up to 750 insurgents. The identities of the affected groups, the exact locations of the strikes, and the operational details remain unclear as of the time of filing this report.

Neither the Nigerian Armed Forces nor the United States Africa Command (AFRICOM) has officially confirmed the incident. Similarly, the Borno State Government is yet to issue a statement addressing the claims.

The alleged operation, if confirmed, would represent one of the most significant counterterrorism air actions in recent times and is being widely interpreted by observers as a continuation of intensified military cooperation between Nigeria and the United States in the fight against terrorism in the North-East.

Supporters of the reported strike have applauded the governments of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria and former US President Donald Trump, under whose administration US military involvement in counterterrorism operations in Africa was notably assertive. However, analysts caution against drawing conclusions until official confirmation and independent verification are provided.

Security experts have also urged restraint, noting that casualty figures in conflict zones are often exaggerated during the early stages of breaking reports, while stressing the importance of accurate intelligence and civilian safety.

As at press time, efforts to reach military authorities for clarification were unsuccessful. This story remains developing, and updates will be provided as more credible information becomes available.
