Enugu witnessed a powerful blend of celebration and civic engagement on Saturday, September 20, 2025, as Ambassador Mrs. Amaka Nweke JP, Member IV of the Enugu State Local Government Service Commission, used her birthday to champion voter education and drum up support for the re-election of the Governor of Enugu State, His Excellency Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, in the 2027 general election.
The event, held at the artisans’ popular station point, Ogbonmanu, Trans-Ekulu, Enugu, was more than a birthday celebration; it became a strategic platform for mobilising masons, carpenters, painters, bricklayers, builders, tilers, plumbers, roofers, and other hardworking artisans to obtain their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) and prepare to vote in 2027. Ambassador Nweke, known for her passion for grassroots development, hinged her address on Governor Mbah’s remarkable achievements in just two and a half years in office, urging the artisans and all residents of Enugu State to unite in ensuring he continues his transformational agenda beyond 2027.
Speaking with infectious enthusiasm, Ambassador Nweke highlighted the governor’s unprecedented strides in infrastructure, education, water supply, youth empowerment, and economic reform, describing them as a clear roadmap to a prosperous future. She noted that Governor Mbah has not only revitalised critical sectors of the state’s economy but has also demonstrated visionary leadership that has repositioned Enugu as a hub for investment, innovation, and inclusive growth. “Governor Peter Mbah has changed the narrative of governance in Enugu State. Within just two and a half years, he has delivered on key promises, restoring water supply, upgrading infrastructure, creating jobs, and empowering our youths. This is the kind of leadership we must sustain,” she declared.
Ambassador Nweke passionately urged the artisans to take advantage of the ongoing voter registration and card retrieval exercises to secure their PVCs, stressing that “the PVC is the power of the people” and the surest way to guarantee continuity in governance. She further provided transport support for those who needed assistance to visit the Enugu East Local Government Area for new registrations, card recovery, or polling unit transfers, ensuring that no willing voter was left behind.
The event also featured an uplifting sermon by Rev. Kanayo Madichie, Founder of the Atmosphere Changers Global Prayer Network, who encouraged the artisans to embrace integrity, love, and faith in both their work and civic duties. His message inspired several participants to renew their commitment to God and their communities.
Members of the Women Support Women Community Network (WOSCONET) joined Ambassador Nweke in the sensitisation campaign, lending their voices to the call for massive grassroots participation in the 2027 elections. Their presence reinforced the message of collective responsibility and women’s pivotal role in driving political awareness and positive change.
In a warm and joyful atmosphere, Ambassador Nweke cut her birthday cake with the artisans, prayed with them, and celebrated in songs and dance. Yet, the heart of the day remained her resounding call for Enugu residents to re-elect Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah to consolidate his administration’s gains and secure a brighter future for all.
As the artisans prayed for her continued success and divine protection, the gathering stood as a symbol of unity, civic responsibility, and forward-thinking leadership. Ambassador Nweke’s birthday was not only a personal celebration but a clarion call to actionreminding the people of Enugu that their PVCs hold the key to sustaining the governor’s transformative work and ensuring that Enugu’s development journey continues unhindered in 2027 and beyond.
