The Vice Chairman of Badagry West Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Lagos State, Princess Oluremi Nutayi Ajose, has died barely two months after being sworn into office, throwing the council and the entire Badagry community into deep mourning.
Reports from the ancient town of Badagry confirmed that the tragic incident occurred on Saturday, September 21, 2025, sending shockwaves through both the political and traditional circles of the area.
Princess Ajose was inaugurated on July 27, 2025, alongside the LCDA Chairman, Hon. Rauf Ibrahim Kayode Yemaren, and five councilors during a ceremony presided over by Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
Family sources revealed that her remains have been deposited in a morgue, though further details surrounding the cause of her death were not immediately disclosed.
The late council vice chairman was the daughter of His Royal Majesty, Oba Oyekan Possi Ajose, the Alapa of Apa Egun-Awori Kingdom, a lineage that has further deepened the grief within the royal household and across the Badagry community.
Her passing comes just weeks after another Lagos council official, Oluwakemi Rufai, Councillor for Ward C1 in Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Area, died on August 13, barely two weeks after assuming office.
The sudden death of Princess Ajose has left residents, political associates, and traditional leaders in shock as tributes continue to pour in for the late vice chairman, described as a young and vibrant leader whose promising tenure was cut short.
