The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Afam Osigwe, SAN, on Saturday, led thousands of lawyers from across the country on a 10-kilometre health walk in Enugu, ahead of the association’s Annual National Conference.
The walk, which drew wide participation from lawyers of various branches of the NBA, served as a prelude to the main conference activities in the Coal City.
During the exercise, Osigwe expressed delight at the turnout and emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle. He noted that the event was not only symbolic of unity among legal practitioners but also a call for Nigerians to be part of the broader conversation on strengthening the nation’s economy.
“I felt on top of the world today. It is important that we as lawyers show the example of balancing work with healthy living. I also hope that Nigerians will join in the conversation of how to make our country economically strong and a true giant,” Osigwe said.
Participants lauded the clean environment of Enugu, describing the city as a fitting host for this year’s NBA conference. Many expressed happiness at the orderliness and hospitality they experienced since their arrival.
The Chairman of the NBA Enugu Branch, Venatus Odo, also expressed satisfaction with the enthusiasm of the participants, noting that the conference promises to leave lasting positive memories for all who attend.
The Annual National Conference of the NBA is expected to attract thousands of legal practitioners, thought leaders, and policymakers to Enugu, with conversations expected to focus on legal reforms, democracy, justice delivery, and the nation’s economic future.
