"Peter Mbah Is Our Party" Enugu Group Endorse Governor Peter Mbah for Second Term

As political alignments ahead of the 2027 general elections begin to take shape, a leading sociopolitical group, the Enugu State Patriots, has declared its firm endorsement of Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for a second term in office.

Following a high-level meeting held in Enugu on Sunday, the group, which includes prominent leaders across political parties, traditional institutions, and civil society. issued a communiqué titled “Peter Mbah Is Our Party”, describing the governor as a transformational leader who has outshone party politics.

“Governor Mbah has shone like a million stars and established himself as a poster boy of people-oriented governance at the subnational level,” said Professor Mathine Anikwe, who read the communiqué on behalf of the group.

The Patriots praised Mbah’s performance since taking office in 2023, highlighting over 2,000 completed and ongoing projects across education, infrastructure, healthcare, and security sectors.

Key Achievements Cited by the Group Include:

  • 260 Smart Green Schools (6,500 classrooms) and 260 new Primary Healthcare Centres (3,300 beds).
  • 260 farm estates, each covering 200 hectares.
  • Increase in water production from 2 million to 120 million litres daily.

    • Deployment of AI-enabled surveillance cameras and 150+ security vehicles.
    • Creation of a centralized Command and Control Centre.

“More Than a Politician—A Movement”

The group praised Mbah for attracting bipartisan praise, noting that even national leaders from opposing parties had acknowledged his accomplishments. They argued that the people of Enugu are more focused on his economic vision—particularly his ambitious plan to grow the state’s economy from $4.4 billion to $30 billion—than on party affiliations.

“With Governor Peter Mbah’s exceptional performance, he has become a viable political party of his own. He is the political party we know, and wherever he leads, Ndi Enugu will follow,” the group declared.

The group also emphasized that Mbah’s second-term ambition aligns with Enugu State’s established zoning arrangement, which rotates the governorship among the three senatorial zones every eight years:

  • Enugu East: Chimaroke Nnamani (1999–2007)
  • Enugu West: Sullivan Chime (2007–2015)
  • Enugu North: Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (2015–2023)
  • Enugu East: Peter Mbah (2023–present)

By that arrangement, Mbah is expected to complete another term before power rotates again.

Notable figures at the event included:

  • Rt. Hon. Sunday Udeh-Okoye, former PDP National Youth Leader
  • Igwe Kingsley Okeke, Traditional Ruler, Awgu LGA
  • Engr. Luke Mmamel, former Commissioner for Transport
  • Hon. Chima Obieze, State Assembly Member for Ezeagu
  • Engr. Jude Asogwa, Nsukka LGA Chairman
  • Hon. Nkechi Omeje-Ogbu, former State Assembly member
  • Hon. Henrich Okenwa, former Chairman, Nkanu West LGA

The Enugu Patriots concluded by expressing confidence in Mbah’s reelection in 2027, emphasizing that their support is driven by performance, not politics.
