Troops attached to Operation Fansan Yanma have arrested a female suspect allegedly in possession of military gear and loaded ammunition magazines in Malumfashi town, Katsina State.
The woman was reportedly intercepted at a routine security checkpoint around 1:00 am while attempting to leave the town under suspicious circumstances.
A thorough search of her belongings led to the discovery of:
- A full military uniform
- Camouflage trousers
- A tactical jacket
- Three loaded magazines
- Multiple mobile phones
- Other security-related items
According to security sources, the items were carefully concealed in her travel bag.
A source involved in the operation revealed via a post on X (formerly Twitter) that the suspect is currently in custody and undergoing interrogation. Investigations are ongoing to determine her network and motives.
While the identity and affiliations of the suspect have not been officially released, preliminary intelligence suggests she may be linked to a larger syndicate involved in supplying weapons and military equipment to terrorist groups in the region.
Authorities say the arrest is a significant breakthrough in ongoing efforts to curb arms trafficking and combat terrorism in Northern Nigeria.
