Happening Now!! House of Assembly Member Suspended!

The Anambra State House of Assembly has suspended the member representing Ayamelum Constituency, Honourable Bernard Udemezue, for three months without pay over alleged unparliamentary conduct.

The lawmaker was further warned not to be seen within the Assembly premises for the duration of the suspension.

The decision followed the consideration of a report presented on Tuesday by the House Committee on Rules, Business, Ethics and Privileges, chaired by the Majority Leader and member representing Ekwusigo Constituency, Sir Ikenna Ofodeme.

NATIONAL POST recalls that Hon. Udemezue recently caused a scene when he clashed with Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s security details at an event in his community. He had insisted on exchanging pleasantries with his traditional ruler even though the governor was already seated.

When he attempted to force his way into the VIP stand, he was resisted by the governor’s security aides.

Hon. Udemezue has been known as a major critic of the Soludo administration.
