Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has officially lifted the suspension placed on 81 top government functionaries, including 25 commissioners, directing them to return to their offices with immediate effect.
The affected officials, who were suspended on July 28, 2025, for failing to attend a critical state function, include commissioners, permanent secretaries, senior special assistants, and special assistants.
The directive for their reinstatement was conveyed in an official statement issued by Dr. Monday Uzor, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.
According to the statement:
“The Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has graciously lifted the suspension on 81 Government officials. The Governor directed the Commissioners, Senior Special Assistants, Special Assistants and Permanent Secretaries who were suspended on the 28th of July, 2025 to resume official duties immediately.”
The governor’s decision signals a reconciliatory gesture and a readiness to move forward in the collective interest of the state’s development.
