Lagosians witnessed an unusual episode of “Fast & Furious: Ojuelegba Drift” when a viral video surfaced showing a police officer dramatically hanging onto a moving truck after allegedly attempting to “loger” (collect tip) from the drivers.
According to eyewitnesses, the officer, in a bid to enforce his own version of ‘tollgate duties,’ hopped onto the slow-moving truck demanding his “support package.” But the drivers, apparently uninterested in parting with their hard-earned kobo, decided to give him a free ride instead, at top speed.
The short clip shows the policeman clutching onto the truck like a blockbuster stunt double, while pedestrians and motorists watched in shock and laughter. Some bystanders were heard cheering, “Officer no gree fall oo!”
The unexpected joyride only came to an end when the officer, realizing he had signed up for a marathon he never trained for, managed to flag down a nearby military checkpoint. The soldiers quickly halted the truck, allowing the visibly shaken officer to alight with his dignity half-intact.
Social media has since exploded with memes and captions ranging from “Police wahala don turn BRT” to “Next time, collect loger with POS.”
Authorities are yet to comment officially, but Lagosians have already crowned the unnamed policeman “The Hanging Commando of Mile 2.”
