BREAKING!! News UNN Vice-Chancellor to Emerge!

The Management of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) has firmly debunked reports circulating on social media suggesting that a new Vice Chancellor has been appointed for the institution, stating that the new Vice-Chancellor is yet to emerge.

In a statement issued Friday night and signed by the Acting Public Relations Officer, Inya Agha Egwu, the university described the claims as misleading and entirely false.

“The attention of the Management of the University of Nigeria has been drawn to a misleading report currently circulating on social media, claiming that a particular individual has been appointed as the substantive Vice-Chancellor of the University.

We wish to state categorically that no such appointment has been made. The selection process for a substantive Vice-Chancellor is still ongoing, and no candidate has been announced or confirmed,” the statement read.

The University cautioned the public to disregard what it described as the handiwork of “mischief-makers and purveyors of falsehood who seek to mislead and incite unsuspecting members of the public with baseless speculations.”

According to the statement, the selection process is being conducted in a transparent and merit-based manner, under the leadership of the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council, Engr. Kayode Ojo.

The Management further urged all stakeholders—including staff, students, alumni, and the general public—to remain calm and allow the ongoing process to conclude without interference.

“The Selection Committee... is diligently carrying out its mandate and will announce the most qualified candidate upon conclusion of the process,” the university reaffirmed.

The position of Vice Chancellor at the University of Nigeria is highly contested and widely regarded, with expectations that the eventual appointee will uphold the legacy and academic excellence of one of Nigeria’s foremost institutions of higher learning.
