BREAKING!! Governor Makes U-Turn, Reinstates Sacked Commissioner

Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has reinstated Taiwo Olatunbosun as Commissioner for Information, barely a week after dissolving the state executive council.

The reappointment, announced on Tuesday in Ado-Ekiti, was contained in a statement signed by the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Yinka Oyebode. A formal letter issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Professor Habaibat Adubiaro, further directed Olatunbosun to immediately resume duties.

Governor Oyebanji had on August 11 dissolved his cabinet, ordering commissioners and special advisers to hand over to permanent secretaries or senior civil servants. However, six commissioners, including those in charge of Finance, Works, and Human Capital Development, were retained to ensure continuity in critical sectors.

Explaining the move, the governor said the cabinet shake-up was aimed at injecting fresh energy into governance and further driving his administration’s agenda of shared prosperity.

Meanwhile, in Edo State, former Deputy Governor Philip Shaibu has filed a lawsuit against ex-Governor Godwin Obaseki and the administration of Governor Monday Okpebholo. Shaibu is demanding unpaid allowances and entitlements accrued during his tenure as acting governor and deputy governor between 2016 and 2024.

The suit, filed before the National Industrial Court in Abuja, also seeks over ₦85 million allegedly spent on medical bills for his wife, Maryann, within the same period.
