President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Deputy Controller-General (DCG) Olumode Samuel Adeyemi as the new Controller-General of the Federal Fire Service (FFS).
The appointment was conveyed through the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) in an official statement released by the Secretary to the Board, Maj.-Gen. (Rtd.) A.M. Jibril. It takes effect from August 14, 2025.
DCG Adeyemi succeeds the current Controller-General, Engr. Abdulganiyu Jaji Olola, who will retire from service on August 13, 2025, upon reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60.
According to the statement, Adeyemi is a seasoned and accomplished officer who began his service with the FCT Fire Service before transferring to the Federal Fire Service. He rose through the ranks to become DCG in charge of the Human Resource Directorate at the Service Headquarters.
His professional qualifications include extensive in-service training, command courses, and international certifications. He is also a member and fellow of several notable bodies, including:
- Association of National Accountants of Nigeria (ANAN)
- Institute of Corporate Administration of Nigeria
- Institute of Public Administration of Nigeria
- Chartered Institute of Treasury Management of Nigeria
The Board commended the outgoing CG, Engr. Olola, for his outstanding contributions and reform efforts, which significantly improved operational efficiency and service delivery across the Fire Service.
Expressing confidence in Adeyemi’s leadership, the Board described his appointment as a step toward ushering the Service into a new era of professionalism and performance.
