JUST IN! Peter Obi Speaks On Returning To PDP To Clinch Presidential Ticket To Defeat Tinubu In 2027
Former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, has responded to widespread reports suggesting he is planning a return to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The speculation was ignited by Ali Modu Sheriff, former Borno State Governor and past PDP National Chairman, who claimed that Obi was set to rejoin the PDP in a bid to secure the party’s presidential ticket for the upcoming polls.
Sheriff stated:
“The information available to me is that at any moment from now, Peter Obi will return to the PDP and run as a presidential candidate under the PDP.”
However, Peter Obi has firmly denied the claims, describing them as unfounded. In his official response, Obi emphasized that he has no plans to return to the PDP or any other political group that does not align with his vision for Nigeria.
He clarified that his political focus remains on the coalition he is building alongside the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and other like-minded platforms. According to Obi, the current objective is to foster a genuine movement for national transformation—not political realignment.
“What Nigeria needs now is not political drama or old tactics, but honest efforts to bring people together and move the country forward,” Obi said.
He called on members of the Labour Party and partners within the political alliance to stay focused and continue working toward a new Nigeria rooted in values, integrity, and inclusive governance.
