Renowned philanthropist and media personality, Okwuluora, who was abducted by unknown gunmen in Umuaka, Imo State, has regained his freedom.

The popular Enugu-based humanitarian was released unharmed after being kidnapped shortly after a fundraising mission to support a young kidney disease patient, Ikechukwu Chinecherem. Okwuluora had travelled from Enugu to Umuaka with the sole purpose of raising funds for Ikechukwu’s treatment, marking the second time he was offering assistance to a member of the Umuaka community facing a kidney-related ailment.

Sources close to the media personality confirmed that his release came after several hours in captivity. While the exact circumstances of his release remain unclear, it is believed that the goodwill he has built over the years through his selfless service played a significant role in securing his safety.

Okwuluora is currently in a stable condition and is recovering from the psychological trauma of the incident. In a brief message relayed through an associate, he expressed gratitude to God and the public for their prayers and concern during his ordeal. He also urged Nigerians to remain focused on the mission of helping Ikechukwu, saying, “God wants Ikechukwu alive. This mission must continue.”

The news of his safe return has been met with widespread relief and joy, especially among his supporters and beneficiaries of his numerous humanitarian projects. Social media platforms have been flooded with messages of gratitude, prayers, and renewed calls for the protection of individuals who dedicate their lives to serving others.

Many have also condemned the rising spate of insecurity in the country, calling on security agencies to intensify efforts in safeguarding lives, particularly those of activists, volunteers, and humanitarians.
