The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has named Hauwa Yusuf as its new Deputy National Secretary, marking a significant elevation for the party’s former National Youth Leader (Female). Her appointment was ratified by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) as part of a broader restructuring strategy ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Hauwa Yusuf rose through the ranks of the ADC by playing a pivotal role in youth mobilization, grassroots engagement, and party development initiatives. Her national profile surged following her widely applauded speech during the ADC coalition unveiling ceremony held on July 2, 2025, in Abuja. At the event, she welcomed several political heavyweights including Peter Obi, Atiku Abubakar, Rauf Aregbesola, and Rotimi Amaechi, highlighting unity, inclusion, and the party’s readiness to provide a credible alternative in the 2027 polls.
In addition to her political engagements, Hauwa is a communications and advocacy professional with a background in peacebuilding. She formerly served as a Project Communication Officer at Search for Common Ground (SCL Nigeria), where she championed youth-centered storytelling and strategic media efforts.
An alumna of the Federal University of Technology, Minna, Hauwa holds a degree in Microbiology. Her appointment is widely seen as a strategic decision to reinforce the ADC’s national structure while reaffirming its commitment to youth and female inclusion in political leadership.
Party insiders describe her elevation as a progressive step toward building a vibrant and inclusive political movement, as the ADC continues to position itself as a formidable player in Nigeria’s shifting political landscape.
