A wave of shock and mourning has gripped King’s College, Lagos, following the mysterious death of a 48-year-old teacher, Mr. Ezekiel Akano, who was discovered lifeless inside a classroom on the school’s premises on Saturday evening.
According to reports, Mr. Akano’s body was found around 7:40 p.m. by staff members after school hours. The Vice Principal, Mr. Oguniyi Ayodele, promptly reported the incident to the Lagos State Police Command. The school is located at No. 3 Catholic Mission Street, Lagos Island.
Security analyst Zagazola Makama, who shared the development on his X (formerly Twitter) handle, stated that police sources confirmed the incident and that detectives have commenced a full-scale investigation. The area was cordoned off, and photographs of the scene were taken.
Preliminary checks on the body revealed no visible signs of violence. The deceased, a native of Oyo State, was taken to Lagos Island Hospital in Odan, where a medical doctor confirmed him dead on arrival. His body has been deposited in the hospital’s morgue for preservation and autopsy.
The Lagos State Police Command has yet to issue an official statement, as attempts to reach the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, proved unsuccessful.
The cause of death remains unknown, but authorities have assured the public of a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
