[VIDEO] Security Operatives Display Dead Bodies of Victims of Eha-Amufu Herdsmen Attacks as Two Suspects Arrested

Residents of Eha-Amufu in Isi-Uzo Local Government Area of Enugu State have been plunged into mourning following yet another deadly attack by suspected Fulani herdsmen, which has claimed at least 11 lives.

A disturbing viral video, obtained by NATIONAL POST, shows grieving villagers wailing beside the lifeless bodies of their loved ones, victims of a brutal night raid on Aguamede community. The attackers, described by survivors as armed and ruthless, invaded the quiet farming settlement, unleashing horror and leaving families devastated.

Amid the rising outrage and sorrow, the Nigeria Police Force in Isi-Uzo have confirmed the arrest of two suspects linked to the massacre. One of them, Matthew Ebeh, 26, is alleged to have led the armed herders into the community. His female accomplice, whose identity is yet to be disclosed, reportedly acted as a guide and informant, tipping off the attackers and leaking sensitive security information.

Authorities say the arrests were made after one of the locals escaped during the attack and raised an alarm. Preliminary investigations have uncovered strong evidence of the duo’s complicity, including confessions and material leads.

Reacting to the incident, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah condemned the attack in the strongest terms, warning that no crime will go unpunished in Enugu State. Speaking while receiving the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), Zone 13, AIG Abayomi Oladipo, at the Government House in Enugu, Governor Mbah vowed to continue investing in security and justice.

“Let it be known that Enugu is still one of the safest states in Nigeria,” Mbah declared. “This was an isolated tragedy, but we are not resting. Our government has deployed AI surveillance cameras, launched a Command and Control Centre, and empowered a dedicated Distress Response Squad with over 150 patrol vehicles. Every life matters.”

The governor also dismissed claims of worsening insecurity in the state as the product of deliberate misinformation, pointing out that some videos being circulated on social media were not from Enugu, and were meant to create panic.

Meanwhile, the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) in its recent June 13, 2025 travel advisory, did not include Enugu among the 27 Nigerian states flagged for insecurity, an endorsement of the governor’s position on the relative peace and safety in the state.

Governor Mbah reassured the people of Eha-Amufu and other border communities that his administration is actively collaborating with security agencies to bring all culprits to book and prevent future bloodshed.
