The Federal Government has declared Friday, June 6, and Monday, June 9, 2025, as public holidays to commemorate this year’s Eid-ul-Adha celebration.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the federal government. The statement, which was signed by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Magdalene Ajani, extended heartfelt congratulations to Muslims in Nigeria and across the world.
Dr. Tunji-Ojo urged the Muslim faithful to continue to uphold the values of sacrifice, obedience, and faith as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (Peace be upon him). He called on citizens to use the festive season as a time to pray for peace and prosperity in the country.
Reiterating the government’s commitment, the Minister stated that the policies and reforms under President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda are designed to steer Nigeria towards sustainable growth and national progress.
He concluded by wishing Muslims a joyful Eid-ul-Adha and appealed to all Nigerians, irrespective of religion or region, to join hands in rebuilding and restoring the glory of Nigeria..
Kano APC Chairman Mourns Athletes Killed in Road Accident
The Kano State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Abbas, has expressed profound grief over the tragic death of 22 athletes from the state, who lost their lives in a road accident while returning from the National Sports Festival in Abeokuta.
In a statement issued on Monday in Kano, Abbas described the incident as an immeasurable and irreplaceable loss, not only to their families but also to Kano State and the nation as a whole.
“These athletes represented the pride, energy, and aspirations of a generation,” he said. “Their untimely death is a sorrow we collectively bear.”
On behalf of the APC family in Kano, Abbas extended condolences to the bereaved families, the Kano State Government, and the Nigerian sports community. He prayed for the eternal rest of the departed souls and for healing and recovery for the injured.
He encouraged Nigerians to find strength in unity and compassion during this difficult time and support one another through the mourning period.
