The Honourable Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Chief Uche Nnaji Nwakabie, was among the notable Nigerians recognized yesterday, Saturday, June 14, 2025, at the 7th edition of the Nigeria Silent Heroes Award, held in a colourful ceremony that drew dignitaries and well-wishers from across the country.
Chief Nnaji, who was unavoidably absent, was ably represented by the Director-General of the National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA), Dr. Mathew Adepoju. He received the award on behalf of the Minister, who was specially honoured for his exemplary leadership and quiet but impactful contributions to national development.
The convener of the Nigeria Silent Heroes Award, Mrs. Ozioma Sonia Odita, while speaking at the event, emphasized that the award platform was established to celebrate individuals whose efforts, though often unnoticed, have deeply enriched lives and advanced the cause of humanity.
“The Silent Heroes Award is built on a simple yet profound ethos: to identify, honor, and celebrate those whose contributions to humanity are significant and selfless, often made without recognition, applause, or acclaim,” she stated.
According to her, Chief Uche Nnaji epitomizes these values. In a world increasingly dominated by noise, personal branding, and self-promotion, Chief Nnaji stands apart for his humility, focus, and unwavering dedication to service.
“What particularly resonated with us about Chief Nnaji is his humility. In an age that often values spectacle, he has chosen a different path. He does not boast or seek attention; instead, he serves diligently. For this reason, we consider him a Silent Hero,” she added.
The honour adds to the growing list of accolades recognizing Chief Nnaji’s leadership style and policy-driven approach in the Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology. His tenure has been marked by renewed investments in research and innovation, space technology advancement, and digital transformation in Nigeria.
