BREAKING! FG Increases Prices for Number Plates, Drivers Licences

The Federal Government of Nigeria has announced an increase in the cost of driver's licences and number plates nationwide, with the new rates set to take effect from June 8, 2025.

The Joint Tax Board, which manages tax-related matters across the country, disclosed that the decision was made following a review of current production costs and enhancements to the security features of the documents. These upgrades, aimed at improving safety and curbing fraud, have contributed significantly to the higher production expenses.

As a result, motorists and relevant government agencies will now be required to pay more for both new and renewed licences and number plates.
