SAD: 20-Year-Old Boy Machetes Father To Death


A tragic incident has rocked the Gwaram Local Government Area of Jigawa State, where a 20-year-old man, Muhammad Salisu, allegedly killed his father, Salisu Abubakar, with a machete.

Confirming the development on Monday in Dutse, the state capital, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Shi’isu Adam, stated that the gruesome act occurred at about 10:00 am in Bakin Kasuwa Quarters, Sara District.

According to the police, the young man attacked his father with a machete, inflicting severe injuries on his shoulder, neck, and chest. The victim was immediately rushed to the Federal Medical Centre in Birnin Kudu, but he was pronounced dead by the attending medical doctor.

Upon receiving the distress report, the Divisional Police Officer of Sara Division mobilised a patrol team to the scene. The victim was evacuated to the hospital, and the remains were later handed over to the family for burial according to Islamic rites.

The police confirmed that the suspect was promptly arrested at the scene, and the weapon used in the attack was recovered as evidence. The State Commissioner of Police, CP AT Abdullahi, has ordered the immediate transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Dutse, for a thorough and discreet investigation.

Speaking further, DSP Adam noted that while the motive behind the attack remains unclear, the police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident. He assured the public that justice would be served and encouraged anyone with relevant information to come forward.

"The suspect is currently in custody and will be arraigned in court upon conclusion of the investigation," the PPRO said.
