SA to Enugu State Governor on Youths/Students, Holds Strategic Meeting with NYSC Coordinator on Camp Development and Youth Welfare



The Special Assistant to the Governor of Enugu State on Youth and Student Affairs, Comr. Prisca Okeke, on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, paid a courtesy visit to the NYSC Enugu State Secretariat, where she was warmly received by the State Coordinator, Mrs. Oluwakemi Awolola.

The visit, which underscored the commitment of Governor Dr. Barr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah’s administration to youth and student development, was marked by deep mutual respect and a shared passion for youth empowerment. Mrs. Awolola, in her welcome remarks, cheerfully described the Hon. SA as “an august visitor in May,” expressing her admiration for the youthful energy and dedication Comr. Okeke brings to her role.

She applauded the Mbah administration for appointing a young, dynamic and accessible leader to interface with the youth population, describing it as a bold and commendable move. According to the NYSC Coordinator, Enugu has become the most youth-friendly state she has served in, owing to the governor’s people-oriented vision, commitment to innovation, and emphasis on security and inclusion.

Mrs. Awolola also spoke glowingly of the Awgu Orientation Camp, popularly known as "The Ojukwu Camp" the first NYSC camp established in Nigeria in 1973. She emphasized the historical significance of the facility and appealed for support to upgrade its infrastructure. She further appreciated Governor Mbah for consistently responding to the needs of the NYSC and expressed confidence that Comr. Okeke would convey their concerns effectively.

In her remarks, Comr. Prisca Okeke expressed heartfelt appreciation for the warm reception, describing Mrs. Awolola as a mentor and a source of inspiration to many young people. She commended the NYSC Coordinator for her unwavering dedication to the well-being of corps members and her motherly role at the Awgu Orientation Camp.

Comr. Okeke assured that the needs of the orientation camp would be given due attention and reaffirmed Governor Mbah’s unwavering resolve to transform all sectors in the state, including youth institutions. She emphasized that the governor’s development agenda, anchored on the belief that "Tomorrow is Here," would extend to every corner of Enugu State, including the Awgu camp.
