Over 300 politicians from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) have defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kaduna State.
The mass defection occurred on Saturday, May 3, 2025, in Kawo, Kaduna North Local Government Area.
According to Jamilu Haruna, Permanent Secretary of the Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), the move reflects the widespread approval of Governor Uba Sani’s performance in office, especially in the areas of security, education, food supply, and citizen welfare.
Haruna noted that the governor’s achievements have drawn commendation from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, further strengthening public confidence in his administration.
Leading the defectors was Usman Muhammad, a former PDP senatorial aspirant, who confirmed that he brought along 225 supporters. He attributed their switch to the governor’s inclusive leadership style and commitment to good governance.
The new members were welcomed into the APC with assurances of respect and political growth opportunities.
