A UK-based Nigerian nurse identified as Nurse Miriam has been found dead in her apartment in Leeds, United Kingdom, just days after returning from Nigeria where she had gone for her wedding introduction.
The tragic development was disclosed by another Nigerian nurse, Ibironke Khadeejah Quadri, via a post on social media platform X (formerly Twitter). According to her, Miriam had completed her last hospital shift on Sunday and had not been heard from since, prompting concerns from friends.
After repeated attempts to reach her proved futile, a missing person report was filed. Police subsequently broke into her apartment and discovered her lifeless body.
“She had just returned from Nigeria after her wedding introduction. Her friend tried reaching her since Sunday but got no response. A missing person report was filed and the police found her dead in her room,” Ibironke wrote.
Reports indicate that her fiancé had not yet joined her in the UK following the introduction ceremony. The cause of death is yet to be officially determined.
The news has sent shockwaves through the Nigerian nursing community in the UK and beyond, with many expressing deep sorrow over the loss of a promising life.
