JUST NOW!! Governor Sacks State Attorney General, Commissioner



Imo State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma, has relieved Barr. Cyprian Okechukwu Akaolisa of his duties as the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice of the state, with immediate effect.

This was announced in a statement issued on Monday, May 26, 2025, by the Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Hon. Declan Emelumba.

According to the statement, Governor Uzodimma directed the former Attorney General to immediately hand over all government properties in his custody to the State Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Justice.

“The Governor of Imo State, His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma, CON, has approved the immediate removal from office of the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Barr. C.O.C. Akaolisa. The erstwhile commissioner has been directed to hand over all government property under his care to the State Solicitor General and Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Justice, immediately,” the statement read.

No reason was officially given for the sudden removal, but the development has sparked speculation across political circles in the state.
