A heartfelt post by a 26-year-old Nigerian female soldier has stirred emotional reactions online after she openly shared her desire for love and companionship, challenging stereotypes about women in the armed forces.
The soldier, who identified herself as Ebira by tribe and based at Mogadishu Cantonment in Abuja, said that despite wearing the uniform and serving the nation, she still longs for the same emotional connection and partnership that every human being desires.
“The last time I posted about wanting a life partner, many men flooded the comments with things like, ‘How can a soldier be looking for love?’ Some even called me a scammer,” she wrote.
“Let me say this clearly, I may be a soldier, but I’m human too. I laugh, I cry, I dream, and yes, I want companionship like everyone else.”
She further stated that not all female soldiers are interested in marrying within the military. Instead, she seeks a civilian man who is kind, respectful, and emotionally mature — someone capable of offering a peaceful and loving relationship outside the demanding world of uniformed service.
“Love isn’t weakness, it’s strength. And I’m strong enough to still believe in it,” she concluded.
Her bold and sincere expression has sparked both admiration and debate on social media, highlighting the challenges faced by women in the military, not just on the battlefield but also in their personal lives.
As societal perceptions continue to evolve, her story sheds light on the shared humanity of those who serve in uniform, a but that behind every salute and camouflage is a heart that beats for connection.
