"I Barely Sleep Because of the Decisions I Have to Make" — Governor Peter Mbah

Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State has revealed that the burden of leadership often leaves him sleepless, as the weight of critical decisions required to drive transformation in the state rests heavily on his shoulders.

Speaking on Thursday during the commemoration of his administration’s second anniversary, Governor Mbah reflected on the challenges of leadership and the tough calls that come with steering a state through change and development.

“There have been nights I barely slept because of the weight of the decision we must make,” he admitted. “There are days I pause not from indecision, but from compassion. I’m constantly thinking, how will this decision affect the people? Have we thought through the consequences? It is part of the burden of leadership.”

Governor Mbah emphasized that the mission to transform Enugu State demands difficult decisions and unwavering focus, stating that the administration must act with urgency and purpose.

“Change seeks no permission; it moves through persistence. We choose action over comfort, sometimes, progress over popularity. Real change is not fanciful; it is hard. It resists and sometimes tests our faith,” he said.

He further noted that the journey of transformation is not for the faint-hearted. “We were not promised ease, only the chance to serve. And so we pressed on, knowing that the first step toward transformation was into the unknown with only the light of our vision as our guide. We chose to act swiftly because we have no luxury of time.”

In a show of support, oil magnate and CEO of Atlas Oranto Petroleum, Prince Arthur Eze, who attended the anniversary celebration, lauded Governor Mbah’s leadership and declared that the governor deserves a second term in office.

“Governor Mbah is honest and purposeful. Nobody can stop him from getting re-elected. Even President Bola Tinubu has endorsed him for a second term,” Arthur Eze said.

Governor Mbah’s two-year administration has been marked by an ambitious reform agenda focused on infrastructure, healthcare, education, economic rebirth, and youth development, areas he has often described as pillars for the state’s sustainable future.
