The Anambra State Police Command has apprehended two suspects believed to be involved in kidnapping and cult-related activities in Otolo–Nnewi.
According to a statement by the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the arrest was made at about 1:45 p.m. on Thursday following a raid on a criminal hideout based on credible intelligence.
The suspects, identified as Ani Obinna (21) and Okwudili Ezike (43), were reportedly caught during a hot pursuit and found in possession of a foreign-made pistol, three live rounds of ammunition, and a suspected stolen lady’s motorcycle.
During interrogation, the duo confessed to being members of a kidnapping syndicate and a secret cult. They also provided useful leads, which police say could help in apprehending other members of their network.
SP Ikenga stated that the operation is part of the Command's ongoing efforts to sustain intensive security patrols across the state. “The Command is committed to fostering a secure environment where meaningful work and business can thrive,” he said.
Authorities assured residents that the situation is under surveillance and that further updates would be provided as investigations continue.
