Two individuals suspected of being members of a kidnapping gang have been apprehended by local hunters in Owo, the administrative headquarters of Owo Local Government Area in Ondo State.
A video shared on Facebook by a user identified as Ogbeni OB Sugar captured the moment the suspects were restrained and interrogated by members of the community.
In the two-minute, forty-one-second footage, the suspects were questioned about their operations, the structure of their gang, and the identity of their leader. Items allegedly recovered from them — including guns, cutlasses, cans of beer, and energy drinks — were also displayed in the video. One of the suspects was heard requesting water during the interrogation.
A local resident, speaking under the condition of anonymity, revealed that the suspects were captured after hunters raided a forest hideout.
“Yesterday, the hunters stormed the bush where the kidnappers were hiding. Some managed to escape, but two were apprehended and brought back to the community,” the source stated.
When contacted, the spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the incident, noting that the command has launched an investigation.
“I’ve seen the video, and the command has begun investigating the matter,” he confirmed.
