HAPPENING NOW!! Anyanwu Gives Conditions To Resign As PDP National Secretary

Amid internal tensions rocking the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Samuel Anyanwu has firmly declared that he remains the legitimate National Secretary of the party and will not step down unless proven guilty of wrongdoing.

Speaking during a Southeast PDP stakeholders’ meeting on Tuesday, Anyanwu stated that no individual or faction within the party has the constitutional power to unseat him. His statement comes following the nomination of Sunday Ude-Okoye by the Southeast PDP Caucus to assume the secretary role, a decision that has sparked serious division within the party.

The controversy stems from Anyanwu's temporary withdrawal from his national role to contest the Imo State governorship election, which he eventually lost. His absence prompted party leaders to consider a replacement, leading to Ude-Okoye's nomination.

However, Anyanwu dismissed the move as invalid, emphasizing that only credible evidence of misconduct or personal gain from PDP governors could lead to his resignation.

In a defiant tone, he said:

“I am the only National Secretary of the PDP, and no force, not even a Julius Berger crane, can remove me from this position. I dare Governor Peter Mbah and every PDP Governor to publicly say if I have taken a bottle of water from them. If anyone does, I will resign immediately.”

Anyanwu's bold statement underscores the widening rift within the party's leadership in the Southeast and raises concerns about unity and stability ahead of future elections.

As the PDP grapples with internal restructuring and regional interests, observers await the party’s official stance on the unfolding drama.
