Isa Wabi, a former Chairman of Jama’are Local Government Area in Bauchi State, has died following a brutal attack at his residence in the Fadaman Mada area of Bauchi.
According to the police, the incident occurred early Friday morning. Officers who responded to a distress call found Wabi critically injured with multiple stab wounds to his neck. He was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Preliminary investigations suggest that two acquaintances of Wabi’s 24-year-old son, Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed, were responsible for the attack. The suspects, identified as Ahmad Abdulkadir (alias Abba) and Faruk Malami (alias Ajebo), reportedly broke into the house around 3:00 am.
In a twist of events, one of the suspects, Malami (Ajebo), was found unconscious at the scene, believed to have been injured in an act of retaliation and subsequently died at the hospital.
Abdulgafar Isa Mohammed has been taken into custody for questioning and is said to be cooperating with authorities, providing valuable information for the ongoing investigation.
The Bauchi State Police Command, through Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu, has assured the public of a thorough and discreet investigation to uncover the full circumstances surrounding the murder and to bring those responsible to justice. The Commissioner has also visited the bereaved family to offer condolences.
