The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday, May 29, 2025, officially handed over four properties previously forfeited by Rainbownet Nigeria Limited, a company linked to former Enugu State Governor Chimaroke Nnamani, to the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON). The handover ceremony took place in Enugu State.

The properties include one bungalow, one wire house, and three duplexes located at No. 3/4 Pocket Estate, Independence Layout, Enugu. Others are a 12-room one-storey semi-detached building at No. 35B Abakaliki Road, Enugu; a six-room duplex at No. 3A Mount Street, Park Avenue; and another six-room duplex at No. 3C Mount Street, Park Avenue, Enugu.

Representing the Executive Chairman of the EFCC, Mr. Ola Olukoyede, at the handover ceremony was the Acting Zonal Director of the Enugu Zonal Directorate, Assistant Commander of the EFCC, ACE I Aisha Abubakar. She commended the strong collaboration between the EFCC and AMCON and reiterated the Commission’s unwavering commitment to its constitutional mandate of fighting economic and financial crimes in the country.

Abubakar emphasized the Commission’s diligence in investigating and prosecuting financial crimes, adding that the EFCC remains determined to trace and recover all assets acquired through illicit means. She highlighted the role of the Department of Proceeds of Crime Management, which she described as thriving and instrumental in the recovery process.

She stated that once the Commission confirmed that AMCON was ready to take possession of the assets, a final inspection was conducted, and approval was given by the Executive Chairman for the formal handover to proceed.

Receiving the properties on behalf of AMCON, Resolution Officer John Abuh expressed appreciation for the EFCC’s efforts in recovering and transferring the assets. He explained that correspondence between both agencies had been productive and noted the crucial role played by the EFCC’s Enugu Zonal Directorate in facilitating the successful handover.

The development marks a significant step in the recovery and management of assets acquired through financial crime, reinforcing the partnership between the two federal agencies in strengthening accountability and justice.
