President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Atiku Abubakar Isah, has reportedly been detained by the Department of State Services (DSS) after accusing Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu, of offering him a N100 million bribe.
Isah claimed the money was intended to persuade him to support the government’s agenda, which he rejected. He also alleged that Seyi Tinubu’s faction within NANS attacked him, naming rival student leader Ladoja Olusola as the one who physically assaulted him.
Dockaysworld gathered that Isah has been in DSS custody since last week, following a chaotic inauguration where he was declared president despite violence from suspected government-backed thugs.
According to Sahara Reporters, Isah was pressured into writing a retraction letter and was forced to pose for a photo holding a gun—allegedly to be used for blackmail.
A DSS officer told Sahara Reporters that although Isah had completed medical treatment and now only uses eye drops, he is still being held at the DSS hospital in Abuja. The officer confirmed his phone was seized and that his release depends on withdrawing his statements.
A copy of the retraction letter shows Isah apologizing to President Tinubu, Seyi Tinubu, and the Minister of Youths and Sports. In the letter, he stated his previous allegations were false and based on misleading information. He also claimed he never met Seyi Tinubu in Lagos or Abuja and regretted being used by political opportunists.
Before his detention, Isah alleged that he was offered money during a meeting with Seyi Tinubu and the Minister of Youth Development in Lagos. After rejecting the offer, he said he was abducted on April 15, stripped naked, beaten, and filmed—reportedly to force him to resign as NANS president.
He said the video was shown to him as a threat and warned that non-cooperation would result in his death being covered up. Despite these threats, he proceeded with the inauguration and was declared president.
Isah accused Seyi Tinubu of being a bad role model whose political rise would damage Nigeria. He also claimed the Minister of Defence’s secretary and the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Student Affairs had copies of the assault video.
He expressed concern for his health, revealing he sustained facial injuries and now fears for his eyesight. He described being beaten with bottles and a machete and said he had to undergo a brain scan.
Despite his ordeal, Isah noted that his attackers remain free due to their connections with Seyi Tinubu and warned that his life is still in danger.
