Highlife music legend Bright Chimezie has arrived in Lagos for a major music collaboration with Afrobeats superstar Davido, in what is set to be a cross-generational musical fusion.
Chimezie, who landed in Lagos on Monday, May 19, was warmly received by Davido and his team. The visit follows a recent video call between both artists, during which Davido expressed admiration for Chimezie’s 2018 hit, "Because of English," saying it inspired his own track “With You” featuring Omah Lay.
According to nightlife promoter Cubana Chiefpriest, the collaboration is part of a special project under Davido’s DMW Records. A video shared online shows Davido introducing Chimezie to Chioma’s mother, during which he hinted at featuring the highlife veteran in an upcoming music video.
Cubana Chiefpriest also expressed excitement on Instagram, writing:
