Nigerian Authorities Seize 942 Explosives Hidden in Bus, Arrest 30-Year-Old Suspect
Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have intercepted a commercial bus transporting 942 explosives concealed in a sack along the Kaduna–Zaria Expressway. The explosives were being moved from Nasarawa State to Zamfara State, and one suspect, 30-year-old Nura Sani Muhammad, also known as Nura Hariji, has been arrested in connection with the haul.
NDLEA spokesman Femi Babafemi, in a statement on Sunday, described the interception as part of a broader nationwide crackdown that has dismantled multiple drug syndicates and led to the arrest of several high-profile suspects.
The agency also recorded the following major breakthroughs:
- At Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, one Bobby Morris Osas was caught with 8,130 Tramadol pills as he attempted to board a flight to Italy.
- In Kano, a five-man syndicate led by Aminu Musa (Kadagi) was nabbed with 21.6kg of skunk.
- In Edo State, a large consignment of opioids was seized from a bus traveling from Onitsha to Auchi, with Dare Adeyemo arrested.
- Chinedu Eneh was arrested in Anambra after NDLEA recovered over 50,000 Tramadol capsules and other controlled substances.
- Yusuf Abubakar, 30, was arrested in Niger State with a truck carrying Tramadol and Pentazocine injections.
- After a year-long manhunt, NDLEA finally apprehended Dominic Chiegozie Obijiaku, MD of Ovidaq International Ltd, for importing over 2.6 million pills of Tramadol.
The NDLEA’s operations continue to send a strong message to criminal networks involved in narcotics and arms trafficking across Nigeria.
