[VIDEO] Development News: Pro-Obi Labour Party Faction Begins Crucial NEC Meeting in Abuja, Aimed At Rebranding the Party

The Pro-Peter Obi faction of the Labour Party (LP) has commenced its National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Abuja, amidst growing internal tensions and national expectations ahead of future electoral cycles.

The meeting, which is expected to last for several hours, is being held behind closed doors with key stakeholders, including members of the National Working Committee, state chairmen, youth leaders, and representatives of allied groups loyal to the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi.

A source within the faction said the meeting aims to address urgent matters relating to internal party reforms, strategic reorganization, and 2027 political roadmap, especially in the face of the recent leadership controversies rocking the national structure of the party.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, a senior party chieftain, who asked not to be named, noted:

“This is a defining moment for the Labour Party. The NEC meeting is focused on repositioning the party around the ideals of transparency, youth inclusion, and credible alternative governance as championed by Mr. Peter Obi during the last general elections.”

The development comes days after conflicting statements emerged from various interest groups within the party, with some reportedly challenging the authority and legitimacy of certain national officers.

While Mr. Peter Obi has yet to make any official statement regarding the NEC meeting, observers believe the outcome could signal the direction the LP will take in consolidating its support base and resolving lingering internal disputes.

Political analysts say the meeting could be a springboard toward rebranding the Labour Party and aligning it with the expectations of millions of Nigerians who supported Obi’s vision of a “New Nigeria.”

More updates are expected as the meeting progresses.
