The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a man, Kamoru Ojo, for allegedly killing his 27-year-old daughter, Shakirat, during a violent altercation at their residence in the Ojo area of Lagos.
According to police reports, the tragic incident occurred on Thursday, April 3, 2025, when a disagreement between father and daughter escalated into physical violence. Ojo reportedly beat Shakirat until she lost consciousness and died.
In a desperate bid to conceal the crime, Ojo allegedly dug a shallow grave within their compound and buried her body.
Concerned family members and neighbors, who had noticed Shakirat’s sudden disappearance, filed a missing person report with the Okokomaiko Division of the Lagos State Police.
Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators were dispatched to the residence, where they discovered Shakirat’s remains buried on the premises.
The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the arrest and noted that the deceased's body has been exhumed and transferred to a public morgue for autopsy.
He added that investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
