Unknown armed men have brutally murdered a couple in the Angwan Kari community of Keffi Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.
The victims, Mr. Williams Wasiu Jimoh and his wife, Banke, were attacked in the early hours of Sunday, April 6, 2025. According to reports, the assailants broke into their residence, raped Mrs. Jimoh to death, and inflicted multiple machete wounds on Mr. Jimoh, who later died from his injuries.
Pastor Lee Ngbede, the Keffi Zonal Coordinator of the Fellowship of Christian Students (FCS), confirmed the incident, describing it as a devastating loss to the Christian community. He stated that the couple were active members of the FCS.
Concern was first raised when Mrs. Jimoh’s father was unable to reach the couple. A family friend visited their home and, after spotting flies and a foul stench through a back window, alerted the police.
On forced entry, police found Mrs. Jimoh’s decomposing body on the bed with signs suggesting she had been sexually assaulted before being killed—her hands were on her head and her legs spread apart. Her neck had also been slashed.
Mr. Jimoh was discovered near the door, tied up and suffering severe head injuries. He was rushed to the Federal Medical Centre (FMC) in Keffi but never regained consciousness and died several days later, on April 16.
Mrs. Jimoh was buried on April 10, while Mr. Jimoh was laid to rest on April 16.
Some community members suspect the attack may have been carried out by Fulani herders, citing recent tensions in the area and similar patterns in previous attacks.
