Female Guber Candidate Accuses Agunechemba Operatives Of Criminal Activities

Ms Chioma Grace Ifemeludike, the African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate in Anambra State in the coming election, has accused the Agunechemba Security Network created by Professor Chukwuma Soludo administration early this year of criminal activities, human rights violations and extra-judicial killings.

Ifemeludike, in a statement said it had become obvious that Soludo’s stratagem in setting up the security network had failed on arrival.

According to her, Soludo’s approach to solving the state’s security challenges had been causing more pains and danger to Ndi Anambra, inevitably giving rise to more insecurity in the state. She stated:

“It has come to my notice the criminal activities, human rights violations, extrajudicial killings and human rights violations of the newly formed Agunechemba security network by the Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Soludo.”

She recalled that Soludo’s government in January, 2025 signed into law the Homeland Security Act that sought to tackle the root cause of insecurity in the state.

Giving details, Ifemeludike stated that in Mgbakwu in Awka North, a woman was shot dead by the operatives of Agunechemba and another incident happened in Achina, in Aguata LGA, where a young man was killed a few weeks ago.

The AAC governorship candidate maintained that the “so-called Agunechemba is obviously ‘chebering’ (means protecting) their pockets and bank accounts and promoting their criminal ventures in the state.”

According to Ifemeludike, some of the ‘hungry men’ Gov. Soludo handed guns to now use this avenue to extort money from ‘her people’ who had already been suffering in the hands of the some Nigerian police officers, who she said, forcefully take money from them at checkpoints.

She stated:

“The government of Anambra State due to their ineptitude and mediocre system of governing the state could not set up a supervisory board or committee to checkmate the excesses of operatives of the security outfit who have turned out to be a nightmare to Ndi Anambra, armed robbers and kidnappers at night.”

The candidate therefore called for the setting up of an investigative panel immediately to ensure that the criminals in the outfit face the law.

Ifemeludike also suggested that a proper verification and identification system should be put in place to identify those who are genuine officers.

She also called for a supervisory committee, which would be accessible to Ndi Anambra to lodge complaints through calls, messages or sending footage of their encounter with these men.
