Enugu State Youth Ambassador of YAN Advocates Youth Empowerment at YAN National Inaugural Sitting in Abuja


In the early hours of April 26th, 2025, at the prestigious Army Resource Centre Conference, Asokoro, Abuja, the Youth Assembly of Nigeria (YAN) held its First Inaugural Sitting under the leadership of the National Speaker, Rt. Hon. Famuyibo Nathaniel Oluwasegun. This landmark event brought together Ambassadors and youth representatives from across the federation to deliberate on pressing national issues affecting young Nigerians.

Representing Enugu State, the Enugu State Ambassador for the 4th Republic Chapter, Chidubem Ugwueze JP, proudly stood for the interests of Enugu youths. In his active participation during the panel session, the Ambassador lent strong support to a motion advocating for greater youth empowerment and inclusiveness in governance at all levels.

In his contribution, the Ambassador emphasized the need for state governments to formally collaborate with youth organizations, particularly apex bodies like the Youth Assembly of Nigeria, which has established strong structures across all states. Highlighting youth inclusiveness in governance as a crucial pathway to empowerment, the Ambassador stressed that such policies would strengthen synergy between the government and young people, foster mutual understanding, curb insecurity, and boost economic growth in various states.

Citing Enugu State’s progressive stance, the Ambassador while thanking His Excellency, Dr. Peter Ndubuisi Mbah for his youth-friendly leadership, acknowled his efforts in giving notable appointments to young and visionary leaders such as Hon. Ike Lloyd Ekweremadu Jr., the Commissioner for Youths and Sports, and Hon. Prisca Okeke, the Special Assistant to the Governor on Youths and Students Affairs, among others. 

However, the Ambassador also encouraged His Excellency the governor to intensify efforts in youth development and inclusion.

The session was marked by vibrant and visionary discussions from Ambassadors across Nigeria, reaffirming the collective commitment to a greater future for Nigerian youths.



Culminating in the historic session, the Enugu State Ambassador moved a motion for the adjournment of the inaugural sitting, a motion that was duly seconded by the Distinguished National Principal Officer, Amb. Saidu Mohammed of Adamawa State. 


The inaugural sitting of the Youth Assembly of Nigeria sets a strong foundation for a dynamic youth-led movement poised to drive national development and positive change.
