ENUGU: SSA on Youth Assures Safety Along Ugwogo-Opi–Nsukka Road Amid Rising Security Concerns

The Special Adviser to the Enugu State Governor on Youth Mobilization and Empowerment, Hon. Jude Amunabor, has reassured citizens, particularly the youth, of the government’s unwavering commitment to their safety amid rising security concerns along the Ugwogo Nike–Opi–Nsukka Road and other flashpoints in the state.

"In light of recent incidents reported in areas such as Uzo-Uwani, Eha-Amufu, and the Ugwogo–Opi axis, the Enugu State Government has moved swiftly to contain the situation through strategic and proactive security measures. Hon. Amunabor emphasized that the government is in full control and has deployed necessary resources to ensure the protection of lives and property.

One of the key interventions, he noted, is the deployment of Distress Response Squad (DRS) patrol vehicles to high-risk zones. These patrol teams are already operating actively along the affected routes, conducting surveillance and responding to any criminal threats with urgency.

The SSA called on communities to remain vigilant and partner with the government in the fight against insecurity. He urged residents to report suspicious activities directly to security personnel, whose contact details are clearly displayed on the DRS patrol vehicles.

In addition, Hon. Amunabor reiterated the administration’s zero tolerance for misconduct by security agents. He assured that any reports of police harassment, intimidation, or extortion will be investigated thoroughly, with the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) designated as the official contact for such complaints.

He concluded by encouraging the public to maintain confidence in the government’s capacity to restore peace, unity, and stability across the state. “Together, we will reclaim our communities and ensure Enugu remains a safe haven for all,” he stated.
