Buhari Killed My Brother, I am Yet to Recover from It – Nkem Owoh Recalls How Buhari Executed His Brother (Video)

Veteran Nollywood actor Nkem Owoh shared the heart-wrenching story of how his older brother, Bartholomew Owoh, was executed during the military regime of General Muhammadu Buhari. Bartholomew was one of three Nigerians executed by firing squad on April 10, 1985, for drug-related offences that were retroactively deemed punishable by death.

In an interview on Arise Television's ‘The Interview’, Owoh recalled how deeply upset he was upon hearing the news. He described how he could not contain his anger and grief, shedding tears while at work at Anambra Television.

The actor expressed his frustration with the military regime's decision to apply a new decree retroactively, condemning people to death for offences committed before the decree’s enactment. He questioned the morality and legal reasoning behind the retroactive punishment, expressing bitterness over the injustice.
