In a gesture aimed at promoting domestic ease and supporting households across his constituency, the Senator representing Ebonyi South Senatorial District, Prof. Elder Anthony Ani, on Tuesday, distributed brand new cooking pots and charcoal cookers to hundreds of constituents as part of his grassroots empowerment initiative.
The empowerment programme, held in various wards within the senatorial zone, drew a large turnout of community members who expressed appreciation for the senator's thoughtfulness and commitment to improving their standard of living.
While addressing beneficiaries during the distribution exercise, Senator Ani noted that the items were meant to enhance daily cooking experiences, especially for low-income families who still rely on traditional cooking methods. He emphasized that though the items may seem basic to some, they would make a significant difference in easing the cost and stress of meal preparation for many families.
“This initiative is borne out of a desire to provide practical support to my people. We are starting with this phase, but many more impactful interventions are on the way. I believe empowerment should not only be about education and jobs, but also about improving day-to-day living,” Senator Ani stated.
Community leaders and local government officials present at the event lauded the senator’s grassroots approach to empowerment, describing it as a reflection of his deep understanding of the people’s immediate needs.
One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Grace Nworie from Afikpo, expressed gratitude, saying, “With the current economic situation, buying a new cooking pot or stove is a challenge for some of us. This gift came at the right time.”
Senator Ani reassured the constituents of his continued commitment to their welfare and pledged to roll out more empowerment programs in the coming months, including skill acquisition trainings, youth and women development schemes, and agricultural support initiatives.
The senator's empowerment programme is seen as part of a broader effort to maintain close ties with the grassroots and deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Ebonyi South.
