The President of the Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria (SCSN), Sheikh Abdul Rasheed Hadiyatullah, has passed away.
The Grand Mufti of Yorubaland, Sheikh Daood Imran Molaasan, confirmed the news in a statement released Monday night, though he did not disclose the specific time or location of death.
Born in Iwo, Osun State, Sheikh Hadiyatullah was a revered Islamic jurist known for his deep commitment to the implementation of Shari’ah law within constitutional boundaries, as well as his dedication to interfaith dialogue and peaceful religious coexistence.
He led the Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria through various periods of challenge and growth, earning respect for his wisdom, composure, and scholarly insight. He began his Islamic education under local scholars before pursuing advanced studies abroad.
The Grand Mufti prayed that Allah forgives the deceased and grants him Jannatul Firdaus.
