Breaking News! LG Council Chairman Sacks Secretary Appointed by Governor, Appoints his Loyalist

In a major administrative shakeup, the Acting Chairman of Uhunmwode Local Government Council, Edo State, has relieved the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Nelson Gomez Iserhienrhen, and several others of their duties. The development has stirred political reactions across the state, especially given that the former Secretary was appointed by the Executive Governor of Edo State.

The Acting Chairman, in swift action following the dismissals, appointed and swore in Hon. Moses Igbinoba as the new Secretary to the Local Government and Nosakhare Omokaro as the Special Adviser to the Council.

While no official reasons were given for the sudden change, sources within the council suggest the decision is part of a broader move to reenergize the local government’s leadership and improve performance at the grassroots level. However, the removal of a governor-appointed official has raised eyebrows and reportedly created a cold atmosphere in political circles, with indications that the governor may not be pleased with the council’s decision.

Political observers are closely watching the unfolding situation, as it may signal a widening gap between the local council leadership and the state government. Meanwhile, the newly appointed officials have pledged their commitment to the development of Uhunmwode and promised to uphold the mandate of good governance and service delivery.

The announcement was officially communicated through a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Uhunmwode Local Government Council, Osaro Dennis Oyomare, and made available to the press.
